KANSAS CITY, Mo.
(AP) Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore says the club has signed infielder Jose Veras to a minor league deal.
Veras will be assigned to the Triple-A Round Rock Express in Oklahoma City and can play for the Express or Kansas City’s Triple-B affiliate, the Reno Bighorns.
He will join the Royals in spring training.
The 25-year-old Veras spent the previous two seasons in the minor leagues, hitting .247/.308/.361 with 15 homers and a .328 OBP in 537 games between the Double-A Oklahoma City Scorpions and Triple-L Oklahoma City Storm.
The Scorpions won the Pacific Coast League pennant in 2015.
